February 18, 2013 – Last Tuesday, February 12, 2013, the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Associate Minister of National Defense and Minister of State (La Francophonie) (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), met on Parliament Hill in Ottawa with a group of 18 graduate francophone students from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The group was composed of students from Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Haiti, and Panama who are in Canada for a short term exchange to study or conduct research in Canadian French-speaking universities. They were invited in Ottawa by Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canada to take part in the week long Democracy Study Tour. The Study Tour is organized every year in the context of the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program.
