Competition Open for Canadians: Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program

October 29, 2015 - The China Scholarship Council has recently opened its scholarship competition for Canadian academics, students and professionals who wish to study or conduct research at participating Chinese institutions.

Established in 1973, the Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program (CCSEP) is the result of an undertaking by former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai and former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Over the past 42 years, more than 1,000 scholars have participated in the program. Canadian scholars have brought new perspectives to their host country and have acquired an enhanced knowledge and understanding of China.

Paul Brennan, CCSEP recipient from 1973-1975 and now Vice President, International Partnerships for Colleges and Institutes Canada, encourages Canadians to participate in the program:

“International and inter-cultural competencies are becoming essential in our globally linked world, and studying and living in THE emerging power of the current globe is one of the best ways of acquiring those, and of thus launching your career full of ongoing challenges and impact.”

The program offers scholarships for studies and research, for a combination of studies and language studies, or for language studies only. Scholarship durations are four to 12 months for students and eight weeks to 12 months in the case of professionals, professors and researchers.

The deadline to submit an application is March 10, 2016. Please visit Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program for full program details and to submit an online application.
